Carroll is too much of an injury risk to start IMO too.

Reid is becoming a liability and needs resting. Kouyate is a lot quicker than Reid and Rice is stronger than Cresswell. The aim is maximum mobility pace across the back 3 - 5.

Moyes would be daft IMO to revert back to his preferred 4-4-2 for an away game with Spurs. Its different to being at home against a fellow struggling team when the onus is on us to attack and I understand why he switched to it. The wing backs will hopefully stop them getting behind us.

Obiang gets selected as there is no one else ( Fernandes, Oxford injured) .

He (Moyes) needs to try Hernandez with Arnie but I have a sinking feeling that Ayew will be picked again. When he plays its like being down to 10 as he is a player without portfolio ( whats his position?)

The Carthorse has a 5 goal spurt every season, hatty tonight!!!

I accept it's harsh on Andy and any other striker I would say he starts, but.. This is Carroll we are talking about. Two games in two days I genuinely feel he could quite literally decompose over the course of the game.

Off topic, but just how many of us are going over there tonight?

BTW, I think it would be a big mistake starting AC, as he no longer retains the ball as a lone striker and as a result we'll be under constant pressure. Start with mini-Mex.

unless Carroll is out the door in this month, then he starts.
2 goals to the good and will be nothing less than fired up to make mincemeat out of the Spuds centre halves

Re: WHU team Vs Spurs
Not sure Hernandez presses any better than Carroll and we should reward strikers when they score goals.

Start Carroll with an eye to taking him off at half time or 60 minutes. Their centre back 2/3 are very good ball players but have been bullied in the past. Try that out. Again can change, if we need.

What we really need is something more in the midfield but that won't happen and it may be one of those games where Mark Noble think he has to try too hard.

Rice as a centre back seems the obvious way to go.

Obiang and Noble in midfield

The rest writes itself, for good or bad.

We need to press high up the pitch to get anything out of this. I wouldn't be starting Carroll for that reason. Ideally I'd like to see Sakho start but that won't happen.

It's a thankless job that Hernandez will probably be asked to do. The way we're using him I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave in the window.

I would agree with defence's team below, but Carroll should get some time. Personally I would start with Carroll but just give him the first half. He'll be a handful for their defenders and is so valuable defending set pieces too. Hernandez can give them a different sort of challenge 2nd half.

Basically the same team that beat Chelsea last month except for injuries.

They should all have had a nice ice bath last night and be raring to go.

Re: WHU team Vs Spurs
Be surprised if Carroll starts as can imagine he would be feeling it too much after last night. It will be a night for pressing and closing down which isn't his game also.
Noble will be in there.
If we have a plan and stick to it we might get something. Can we keep Kane quiet and he needs doubling up on.

tea

I imagine people are leaving him out due to the fact he is made of tracing paper and 2 games in 2 days could actually kill the poor sod.

He couldn't even celebrate he was that shattered so if we do see him I imagine it would be a bench appearance at best.
